JPEG is the most common format for photos — nearly every phone and camera shoots it. This page re-encodes your images with mozjpeg: by optimizing Huffman tables and quantization, it produces smaller files than a standard encoder at the same quality, and outputs progressive JPEGs that render from blurry to sharp as the page loads.
The default quality level of 75 balances size and fidelity; raise it to 85-90 for prints or large displays. JPEG has no alpha channel — transparent areas become white after conversion. Use PNG or WebP if you need to keep transparency.
I process dozens of product images for new listings every day. Now I drag the whole batch in, and it compresses and zips everything automatically — main images drop from 800-900KB to around 100KB. Uploading is so much faster.

The application system required photos under 200KB and I could never hit it by tweaking quality myself. The target-size feature took 200 and nailed 199KB on the first try. Submitted successfully.

I convert all illustrations to WebP and compress them — articles load noticeably faster. Batch processing plus format conversion in one step, no more hopping between apps.
