Product photos stolen by competitors, design drafts lifted as-is, photography shared without credit — a watermark is the cheapest first line of defense. An effective anti-theft watermark has three traits: it covers the main subject (tiled), its opacity is moderate (30%-50%, visible but not hiding details), and it carries traceable info (shop name, author name or URL).
If you only need attribution rather than theft protection, a single corner watermark fits better: bottom-right, about 60% opacity, restrained size. Note that watermarking usually makes files bigger — the texture lowers compressibility. Do not skip the compression queue below; one pass brings the size back to pre-watermark levels.
